East West Shrine Game:This week marks the beginning of the project scheme. The scheme is a series of four events that are held for the front office staff to assess the collegiate players hoping to be drafted in April. On this week’s East-West Shrine game and then next week the senior ball, the Scouting Combine in February, and finally, individual schools Pro days. Although everyone involved in the combine and pro day workouts, only older participated in the Shrine Game and the aptly named Senior Bowl.

Shrine Game is regarded as the least significant of all events, like the elderly were not invited to the senior ball there. This game probably will not receive due attention, however, as approximately fifty percent of all participants will have developed, and many more to get signed undrafted free agents. In addition, Alan Burge noted that some of the newly developed Texans played in the Senior All-Star Game. Temple of the game takes place further possible exploration significance in Houston this year because Wade Phillips is coaching the West team and, therefore, receive valuable estimates of the time during practice and the game itself.

For both the Temple game and the Senior Bowl, coaches get a few lessons during the week that intelligence officers and the public are invited to watch. This year there were two open practices and a unique experience in the hotel ballroom, when the weather forced them indoors. As you would expect from the edge perspective, most of the players received mixed reviews, but there were some players who have attracted the attention of scouts. For more information on these players to follow the jump.

Star-share

Marvin Austin – DT – UNC: Austin was widely regarded as a possible first round pick coming into the 2010 season in North Carolina, but was suspended for accepting gifts from an agent in the form of paid trips to Miami. Austin seems a lot of work to stay in shape and dominated the 1 on 1 drills this week. He is very good in 11 to 11, as well as drills, but is sometimes criticized for getting high and losing leverage. At 6’2 “and 312 pounds, Austin might fit into a low-growing role of NT, you’ve heard so much about, but in contrast to the man as Stephen Paea, Austin could be around the third round, perhaps, the end of the second.

David Carter – DT / DE – UCLA: Scouts are expected to do well in the Austin Church of the game, but were pleasantly surprised by David Carter of UCLA. Carter showed great athleticism all week with a better-than-expected pass rushing ability. At 6’4 “, Carter long enough to set the edge in a 5 technique (DE in 3-4), but also can play inside for a random four-man looks. In addition, Carter seems to have room to add weight to his frame, which is still a bit narrow at the top.

Terrell McClain – DT – USF: McClain showed great speed in a 1 on 1 drills, but often disappeared during team scrimmages. McClain is undersized for a DT and plays like it, but also penetrate into the gaps in the middle. McClain will likely be composed of 5-6 round range, most likely, 4-3 team in addressing the role, but you never know.

Brandon Bair – DE – ore: Bair weighs some 275 despite measuring 6’6 “NFL teams will likely try to add weight to the frame Bair, in order to cram it into five vehicle role Bair is often lauded for his incredible work ethic .. It so scouts say he never refuses to listen.

Justin Rogers – CB – Rich: Rogers is shorter than your ideal angle, but deceptive vertical to compensate for his 5’10 “height Although Rogers did not have time exceptionally well for his 40 yards on the plant, Rogers waste. Very little movement in turns and backpedaling that allows him to keep the wide receiver from the division. Rogers is also very good in the press near the goal line, which is something he did not ask to do it often in Richmond.

These are just a few of the players who will hope to cap week with strong play in today’s East West Shrine Game. The game will be nationally televised today at 3:30 EST, on the NFL Network. I will next week for Senior Bowl, which is covered in more detail in the media.
